RUBIÓ

Rubió...
nature, peace
and heritage

Rubió offers the greatest luxury of all: peace and quiet. But if you’d like to combine tranquillity with discovery, this hidden gem has plenty to offer.

Enjoy the beauty of the countryside and uncover charming corners such as Buïmira or Torredenussa. Along the way, admire traditional dry-stone shelters known locally as barraques.

Don’t miss the Church of Santa Maria de Rubió, a beautiful 14th-century building that blends Romanesque and Gothic styles, with a stunning Gothic altarpiece inside.

You can also follow a scenic route to heritage sites like the Romanesque churches of Sant Pere d’Ardesa (11th-12th century), the tiny St. Macari hermitage (close to the house), and Sant Martí de Maçana (12th-century, renovated 17th-century, located at Maçana), or discover ancient legends at the megalithic tomb of Pedrafita and the Dolmen of the Three Kings (on the BV1031 road).

For a touch of adventure, explore the Balma, a cave once used by the local bandits Marimon and Casulleres (north of the municipality, close to the Les Maioles road).

And for breathtaking views, head up to the Rubió wind farm, inaugurated in 2005 (access from the BV1031 road). From there, you can see across the entire region and even as far as the magical mountain of Montserrat.
